WALK 1: Sywell Country Park

Hello!

On to the walks...

Walk 1: Sywell Country Park.

This morning, I went for a walk around Sywell Country Park. It was only a short one as the weather was so cold - almost below freezing.

At around 3 miles long, this walk is perfect when you need to get out of the house. It can be completed in around and hour and a half depending on how often you stop. I stopped quite a lot to take pictures and videos, therefore I was closer to the the 90 minute mark.

The terrain is quite even and is a mixture of concrete, gravel and grass, however, sturdy and waterproof footwear is advised. The paths are well worn as it is a popular walking route and around halfway, under tree cover, it can get very muddy.

Along the route you can find many benches to sit on and admire the view as well as picnic benches too. Also, there are a few bird watching huts to observe the wildlife on the water. Sometimes the swans can get very close to the public as they are used to people but always be careful as they are powerful animals.

This morning most of the water was frozen and the birds didn't venture out for a swim until quite late on in the morning. The most common birds that can be found on the water are swans and ducks but if you're lucky there can sometimes be the opportunity to see herons too.

The walk is mostly accessible to everyone however those with pushchairs or prams may find it difficult to get through some of the gates around the walk and particularly in the muddy sections.

Overall, this walk is great for a quick outdoor venture and is pretty much accessible to the majority of people. The terrain is easy to walk on and it is quite flat with execption to the steps at the beginning of the walk (depending on the car park you use, people can often avoid these using the top car park.
